Pascal Liénard was born in 1979. He studied Art at Royal Academy of Fine-Arts of Tournai, Belgium. He also received his master degree in Numeric Arts, Graphic design and multimedia, from 1999 to 2003. Pascal has worked as a freelance graphic designer since 2003. His pictures are mainly atmospheric, simple and minimalistic. He is influenced by the new topographics movement and in the contemporary landscapes, altered by man’s hands or by nature itself. Overtime, Pascal developed a more personal approach where he began looking for a sense of suspended time and silence. He builds his pictures as graphic as possible, looking for small details, shapes, flat areas of color, patina, signs and a sense of depth in the air, quiet, stillness, emptiness.
Leitmotiv
“In this series Leitmotiv, I played with contradictory elements and symbiosis in the rural space, where I live and where I work. I am trying to step back and look at the overall rural context, questioning the ordinary architectural features and how they are expected or inappropriate for the landscape : by their nature or due to habit. Religious or profane, ancient and contemporary.”
