Gustavo Gomes was born in Cassia, Minas Gerais, in 1981. Today he lives and works as a journalist in Brasília, Brazil. Gustavo studied photography under Carlos Moreira, probably the most influential classic street photographer in Brazil. He is also a member of street photography collectives SelvaSP and Street Photographers. Today we take a look at Gustavo’s series titled Limities. An ongoing series documenting the outskirts of the city Cassia in Brazil where he grew up.
Limites
“Limites is a never ending project about the neighborhoods in the outskirts of Cassia, the city I was born in. I’ve been working on it since 2010. Though these are not the barriosI grew up in, I feel very atracted by how people spend their time on the streets there, the way neighbors interact and children still play outside. It’s half urban and half rural, and its low light combined with the strong vivid colors of the walls remind me of some Edward Hopper paintings.”
