Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL, Vincent Glielmi has always been drawn away from the sprawl and into the rural regions of the Midwest. A place where one can harness nature, and also battle with it, where the evidence of man can be found more than man himself. Vincent never feels like he has looked hard enough, as if there is only a few more miles or another dirt road between him and being photographically satisfied. He received a BFA in photography from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Where The Wind Comes From and Midwest American Landscapes are two series exploring the relationship with man and nature in the central United States. Where The Wind Comes From collects images of windstorm damage in rural areas of the Midwest. 17 million people call “Tornado Alley” home and these photos search to document the struggle they deal with every year. Midwest American Landscapes is a series of wanderings that sometimes finds man but is more interested in his evidence.
