A Coastal Shrine
Growing up surrounded by the wooded mountains and hairpin-curved roads of North Carolina, I’ve always been fascinated with the flat order of East coast beaches. Living in Brooklyn I’ve found myself consistently retreating from the chaos of the city to make work where open spaces still prevail and the ocean rejects the expanding urban landscape. My ongoing series A Coastal Shrine is occupied with the tension between humans (and all they create) and nature, at it’s core is an examination of the relationship between the coast and the people that occupy it.
