Chosen Community
I am interested in exploring the notion of chosen communities, turning to my most immediate communities to focus on issues of intimacy, power, and exposure within relationships. While I hold onto traditional photographic techniques as I make images with a 4×5 view camera, I populate my images with the uniquely modern subject. These portraits are made collaboratively with my queer peers. With an emphasis on the queer femme and with foundation in queer theory, I worked closely with each subject to capture their power and force as they unapologetically turn and face my camera.
