Aint–Bad is excited to announce our first book prize! If you are a photographer with a complete body of work that is ready to be published, we want to see your project!
There will be a total of three award recipients:
No.1 — The winner of the Aint–Bad book prize will receive a monograph designed and printed by Aint–Bad which will be released in the Spring of 2020. The monograph will be an edition of 300 units. The physical size of the book will be 7×9, bound on the 9” side, 96 interior pages.
No.2 — Second place will receive a $1,000 grant to be used for producing a monograph designed and printed Aint–Bad to be released in the Spring or Fall of 2020.
No.3 — Third place will a $500 grant to be used for producing a monograph designed and printed Aint–Bad to be released in the Spring or Fall of 2020.

How much does it cost to submit and what are the submission fees used for?
A one-time submission fee of $75 is required upon submitting. All submission fees collected will contribute to the cost of production for the book projects.
When will the award winners be notified?
Award recipients will be notified on December 2, 2019. 🙂
What is the production schedule?
Books will be released in March 2020. This means that a print-ready package will be sent to the press no later than the first week of January 2020.
Do I need to have a dummy book or digital mock-up of my book to submit?
No, you do not need to have a dummy or a mock up. Aint–Bad will design your book in collaboration with you.
Do I need to have a writer to supply text for my book?
It is not required to have a writer, however, we do require that some type of artist statement, introduction, or essay be submitted along with your images. If you have a writer in mind to be published in the book, that is great! We will happily work with writers to provide additional text as long as they can fit in the production timeline.
What materials can I choose from when designing my book?
The winners of the Book Prize Award will be given a wide range of materials to select from when designing the book. Cover materials, endpapers, foil stamping options, etc will all be supplied to the recipients of the book prize.
