I Can’t Remember my First Word
This series explores the connection between loss and memory through the depiction of domestic space. With every move, every house, every yard, new memories are added to a constructed space called home. Home, like a family album, is evidence of a life lived. Without material evidence, memories are threatened, and we risk losing part of ourselves. While making these photographs, I began to reflect on memories I will never recall, and the many false memories I hold dear; memories created by my mother’s voice or a photograph.
