Tobias Brust (b. 1990) is a self-taught film photographer based out of Berlin. He has an academic background in audiovisual and film studies. Tobias’ work is largely influenced by his working-class roots, DIY culture, camp, heartbreak, and his existence as an introverted gay man. During a depressive episode in his mid-twenties, Tobias rediscovered film photography as a tool to physically capture the beauty in his day-to-day life. To this day, this remains the driving force behind his work. Embracing the subconscious, Tobias’ work unfolds its coherence in the overall body of work rather than in singular, planned projects.
