Sean Fennessy is an Australian photographer based in Melbourne but with strong ties to his home state of Tasmania. His clean, graphic style and unique sense of observation has seen his work published internationally in magazines such as Monocle, Wallpaper, Dwell and HUgE. A finalist in both the National Photographic Portrait Prize and The Bowness Prize, he was also invited to be part of the Independent Photography Festival in 2013 with his solo exhibition ‘Gold.’
Deep South is an ongoing series of observations from the Australian state of Tasmania, where Fennessy spent his childhood. A small island off the Southern tip of mainland Australia, Tasmania is part time capsule, part scenic oasis. Deep South attempts to illustrate the strange middle ground between these two defining characteristics.
