Daniel Stier

Daniel Stier is an award-winning photographer with over twenty years international experience in editorial, commercial and Fine Art photography. He graduated with a diploma in Photography form the University of Dortmund. Since his move to London from Germany in 1998 he has created numerous features for international magazines. Stier’s wry style and remarkable range puts him in frequent demand with publications such as Wallpaper, W Magazine, British Vogue, GQ, Another Magazine, The Sunday Telegraph Magazine, The Observer Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Esquire etc. His portraiture work has seen him building up a collection from the world of film, design, music and art – from A- list Hollywood names to leftfield underground artists. The National Portrait gallery holds many of his celebrity portraits in their collection. He has created advertising campaigns for clients such as Volkswagen, Nike, Sony, Barclays, Orange, Skoda, Renault and many more. Apart from his commercial work Stier has always followed his own artistic practise. His personal projects have been exhibited at the Centre national de la photographie Paris, Fumi Gallery London, Notting Hill Arts Club, Brighton Photo Fringe, Singapore Photography Festival, Photo Trienale Hamburg and others. 2015 saw the publication of his book ‘ways of knowing’ to international acclaim. He is currently a lecturer in photography at the University of Mainz/Germany.
