Tommy Geanakos grew up primarily in Weaverville, Ca. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in photography from Ithaca College in 2014. After graduating, he worked as a portrait photographer in a North Carolina strip mall, sold souvenirs at the Golden Gate Bridge, and jarred sauerkraut in the Midwest, all while continuing his photography practice. The dichotomy of being rooted in a regular entry level job ,while simultaneously declaring oneself an artist, influences much of his work. Photography is then an act of finding and cultivating magic and unity in what could be an empty chaotic world. Tommy is interested in descriptions of time and place and the role of the subconscious and archetypes in photography.
