I spend most of my time as a photographer documenting the world around me. I am very interested in the story of each individual. My personal projects inspire the everyday person. My documentary work inspires those with curiosity, fueling the need to discover each others story. My editorial photographs inspire the girls with brown skin searching for the beauty that is within them in magazines.
My project involves creating a miniature version of different individuals. I analyze the personality of each individual before photographing them. I use a pack of Fujifilm Instax Mini to photograph different elements of the person that I think best represents their personality. I may also photograph a particular style to capture them as well. After I take the photographs I spend time piecing each photograph together into a single piece of work. As you will see in each portrait, I usually focus on the passion of that person or personal features that really tells the viewer who they are.
One of the easiest ways to externally show who we are as person is by our style. We as individuals choose how we want yo look everyday. I a lot of people carry their passions with on them. One person may look Nikes, the next may love gold, funky colorful hair or maybe they just want to be comfortable. Everything about our personalities cannot be shown in our clothing but a general amount can and that is what I am experimenting with in this first set of Instax portraits.
