Love On Parade

“The photograph offers our emotions as momentary glimpses of the lives of others and help us to explore the limits of ourselves. We are mostly exposed to similar emotional experiences, it is how we deal with these emotions that define us as individuals and can be read.” – Richard Ansett

“An act of genius…He is the skeleton from which all the other meats hangs.” Boris Mikhailov

“Its like art” – Grayson Perry

LOVE ON PARADE marks the 20th anniversary of the first couples that signed up for London Partnership Register 2001, which radically altered the public perception of gay relationships. Over shadowed now by the success of the Marriage Equality Act 2013 these couples paved the way for radical change.. This seminal series of photographic portraits, couples stand full length in their homes as if at the alter inspired by the Arnolfini Wedding by Jan Van Eyck considered to be a painted document of a clandestine union and the now most famous artwork illustrating betrothal. The composition has since become an incontrovertible meme in the fine art photography lexicon.
